The new Hyundai Ioniq will offer three different electrified powertrains when it arrives on the market.
Hyundai will offer a fully electric version of the Ioniq along with a plug-in hybrid setup mated to a gasoline engine and a traditional hybrid powertrain. According to Hyundai, it will have class-leading fuel efficiency.

An all-new exclusive platform was developed for the Hyundai’s new Prius-fighting hybrid, which will use lithium-ion batteries in the all-electric version.
“Our vision for future mobility focuses on choice, with a variety of powertrain options to suit customers’ varied lifestyles, without compromising on design or driving enjoyment,” said Woong-Chul Yang, Head of Hyundai Motor R&D Center. “IONIQ embodies Hyundai Motor’s vision to shift the automotive paradigm and future mobility; IONIQ is the fruit of our efforts to become the leader in the global green car market.”
The Hyundai Ioniq will get its world premiere in January in South Korea, followed by appearances at the 2016 Geneva and New York Auto Shows.
